Chapter Three of Dragon Slayer has now been published! With that, all of the pre-written content of Dragon Slayer has been completed. I don’t fully know what will happen to the story from this point on. It’s possible it’ll get picked up by another commissioner, or it might get publicly funded. I know that one or two people expressed interest in picking up the commission, but… spoilers follow.
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR DRAGON SLAYER! YE BE WARNED
Chapter three makes a hard commitment into territory that the first two chapters have teased: femdom. I’ve experimented with the feeling before in one shot shortform stories, and even once or twice in chapters or character arcs in my longform stories (if you know you know; I wouldn’t want to spoil it). Until now though, I’ve never really had it being a recurring theme, nor, as one reader pointed out saliently, something the main male protagonist doesn’t feel the need to overcome somehow.
Admittedly, this bothers me. As much as I like to think I push boundaries, I have to concede that a lot of my stories fall into pretty conventional gender roles. Usually in my heterosexual stories, the woman initiates, the guy soft-leads, and they play into temporary dynamics from there. Not usually much different. Nicole from Being More Social is bossier outside of sex but is clearly a switch in sex. Other characters get moments of wanting to dominate that don’t usually last beyond a few chapters. So, spoilers be damned, I want to make something clear up top:
I want Dragon Slayer, no matter what, to be a story where the male lead plays with submission, and the female lead plays with domming, as a general rule. I don’t want it to be something that Austin feels he needs to fix or overcome.
Saying this does shut a few doors and maybe some of you don’t like the spoiler, but given some people have already asked me if you can pick up the commission, I want you to know what you’re getting into. If I start writing the story and you have to go, “Actually, can we change this? I don’t like Austin experimenting with butt stuff. Can he dominate Kelsea and call her his good girl instead?”, this will be one of the times I flatly say no. The main reason why is as simple as it is laughable – I already have a lot of stories with this general vibe of set up (shy dude x sarcastic and witty dudette with more power than him) and most of them completely escape the realm of true femdom. I’d rather this story do something a little different sexually.
If that’s not for you, no worries. not only are my other works here, but I’ll be, of course, writing more. I think I’d rather people know about this since there’s a certain type of reader out there that expects their preferred erotic story to follow a kind of pattern (no specific pattern – they just know what they like) and they might feel deceived if they read too many chapters and realize they’ve been reading a fetish that doesn’t quite make them tick. And hey, fair. I’ve written many a sex scene containing content I wasn’t crazy about myself.
But if I’m going to do this, I’m going to commit. I’m making no promises about much of anything aside from this, but I want Dragon Slayer to be, first and foremost, a story where a guy discovers his submissive side. As a non-submissive in my personal life, I also just want the challenge and novelty of attempting to write this, especially in a longform context. I always like branching out and writing new things – I just am set in my ways and perhaps am bad at truly finding myself in novel territory. So, this is me, committing.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter! And if you haven’t read it yet, nice job spoiling it for yourself but hey, give it a read anyway. You might surprise yourself! I’ll talk to you all soon.
